Monkey D. Luffy decided when he was a kid that he was going to be the King of all Pirates, and he wasn't going to let a little thing like being an 'hammer' [deadweight in water] stop him. Luffy has swallowed the 'gomu-gomu' fruit, turning him into a rubberman. He sets off alone, collecting comrades as he goes, heading toward the ultimate goal: the former Pirate King's treasure - One Piece.Some people are put off by the animation style, which is true to the original manga design, but the writing and pacing make every story arc a belly-laughing, tear-jerking, a**kicking, scream-and-yelling good time. There's hardly an unlikable character in the cast [even the baddies are awesome!] and the voice actors [Yamaguchi Kappei (Inuyasha, Ranma etc etc) as Usoppu, Kazuya Nakai (Mugen from Samurai Champloo) as Zoro...] are top notch. 190+ episodes, 4 movies, specials etc. so far and still running. Tons of fun. *****
