Reviews/Manga/Pastel

Pastel is the story of Mugi Tadano who like most characters in anime and manga, lives by himself due to his mother dying when he was young and his father always being out of country for work. His solitary lifestyle is changed one day when his father drops by and tells him that he'll be living with two girls, who are the daughters of an old friend of his. I won't get too much into the story as I don't want to spoil it, but I will say that this is a very good manga, yet a very very slow paced one. All of the characters are zany in their own way and really interesting, and the story does progress nicely even though the relationship between Mugi and Yuu is very slow to develop. It seems like this manga was supposed to be a shorter run that it ended up being, and I don't know if the author started to pad it out to keep the issues going, or if he just wanted to develop the story more, but the pace does drag sometimes. In any event, this is one of my favorite mangas; it's just the basic story of a boy and girl and their developing love, with no magic, swords, aliens, or other distractions.
