Reviews/Anime/Wind A Breath of HeartThis is a short 13 episode, 12 minutes each, series, however there is a lot of action packed into each episode. The basic premise is the dark secret of the town and the reuniting of Makoto Okano with his childhood friend Minamo Narukaze.
The story begins after the death of their mother when Makoto and his
younger sister Hinata return to Kazuni town where they had been born.
Starting school both meet again with old friends from ten years before. After classes Makoto realizes he had forgotten a text book in his classroom. Returning to school he hears the faint sound of a harmonica playing his mother's favorite song. Tracing the sound to the roof he finds a pretty girl quietly playing. She turns and calls his name as if she had expected him to be there. Surprised, he suddenly remembers his friend Minamo, and she is playing the harmonica that his mother had given to him, and he had given to Minamo when he left her ten years ago. Minamo knows that he had been called by the music and the love in her heart for him as well as his love for her. He appears to have no remembrance of his half promise to let her be his bride. The rest of the series follows what Minamo sees as slights by Makoto to her as he interacts with the other girls in their group. She sees herself as an outsider.
The town's dark secret concerns the strange "abilities" of the inhabitants. Some have useful ability. Minamo can control the wind, Wakaba is a healer, Hinata is able to leap 20 feet into the air. Street entertainers can walk on water, or walk on floating balloons. Minimo's father can control smoke, and a stalker can muffle his sound. These abilities come at a steep price, as both Makoto's father and Minamo's mother were killed trying to search out the secret. Minamo's father has come back to find the truth about the town and who the killer is.
Who the killer is and why the killing is done dominates the last few episodes and it is a surprise.
This one is good.
