Reviews/Anime/Kannazuki no MikoThis anime is different. What appears to start out as
your usual boy likes girl, boy gets a mecha and kicks
butt, and all is right with the world, is not what
happens.
Two girls, Chikane and Himeko, that appear to meet by
accident at school find out they are the Pristess of
the Moon and the Sun. It is their duty to save the
earth from the evil Orogai. Their friend Souma is
actually one of the Orogai, but he swears to protect
the girls from harm. Souma confesses to Himeko that
he will stay by her side, just as he has since they
were children. So far that's your standard story.
Standards change quickly. Every time Souma helps
protect the girls his body dies a little more. The
evil beings that live on the moon and are set on
destroying the earth are strangely modern. In fact
among the seven are a manga writer/artist, a modern
teenage girl, a little cat-girl complete with a tail
and ears and a very large syringe as part of her
attack, and a girl that sports more crosses than
Sister Rosette. The chief Orogai is Souma's brother.
And then I must give a warning for this anime.
Although it has the girls of the school being in
"love" with Chikane because she is beautiful, we go a
little further with it. In the last episodes is a
scene of Chikane raping Himeko. This is not your
normal story.
Although it was hard for me to watch some of the
episodes, by the end you realize that everything you
have seen does have a reason. Why the evil beings
want to destroy the earth. What is the true relation
of Himeko to Chikane. It all comes together in the
last two episodes. Watch this for the complete story,
and try not to judge the characters beforehand.
