So you like giant robots combined with middle school students for pilots. Then this series may be for you.  Ah, there is a catch with this one though. You do get to pilot a giant robot as one of 15 students who contracted to play a computer game.  But if you lose the earth is destroyed.  Not only the earth, but your entire universe.  And if you win you die.  The big robot uses your life force to move and it is fully depleted in the battle.  The stories of the students are a large part of the entire story.  Big business, the military and lies all fit in the story.  If you want something different this could be for you.  I enjoyed it for the totally different story line and the character development.
